- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2–4 shots bourbon
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions
- Combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce in a pot.
- Add bourbon and spices: garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika.
- Simmer low and slow, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- After simmering, let it cool slightly and use it to slather over your favorite meats or store in a jar.
Notes
For a sweeter sauce, add more brown sugar; if too thick, add a splash of water or apple juice. Taste and adjust flavor as needed.
